So yesterday and today I’ve been baking as it’s a lovely friends birthday and we’re having a bring and share tea, it’s one of the things I love to do (don’t worry I’m not that great at it) but I also enjoy the mental space it gives me.
I’m wondering how much mental space you create for yourself or whether you think it’s important.
A lot of clients that I work with tell me that they aren’t creative, that they can’t think or think straight, they don’t know what to do, they don’t have any clarity or even that their heads are fit to burst! That suggests to me that they have no space for any new thought to come in.
Imagine a glass that is full to the brim of sand – you can’t add any more to it can you? There’s no room – if you wanted to you’d have to take some sand out.
Our minds work the same way – now I’m not taking about us focusing on creating new thought or actively doing a process to get rid of thought. Our minds settle by themselves if we allow them too – and if you’ve ever had a great idea in the shower you’ll know what I mean – but it’s not the shower that is doing this – it’s because you’ve stopped actively thinking about solving whatever it was that you wanted to solve. You’ve created space for the fresh new thinking to come in.
Which is why I always ensure that I allow my mind to settle because I know that is an essential part of the process – how are you going to allow some mental space to happen today?
FREEDOM OF MIND + INSIGHT + ACTION = SUCCESS!
